RABBI AVROHOM GURWICZ
The Rosh Hayeshiva, Horav Avrohom Gurwicz, the son of the Rosh Yeshiva, Reb Leib זצ”ל, learned in Gateshead Yeshiva and under Rav Yosef Dov Solowiejczyk in Brisk in Yerushalayim. He married his cousin, the daughter of the Rosh Yeshiva, Reb Leib Lopianזצ”ל and joined Gateshead Kollel. In the year 5724 he started delivering Shiurim at the Yeshiva, they soon became renowned for their breadth and clarity. He succeeded his father and father-in-law’s position as Rosh Yeshiva in 5748. Apart from his daily Shiurim he delivers a weekly Shiur Kloli and has numerous private sessions with his Talmidim. His Torah authority is recognized all over the world, being involved in decisions in many crucial issues.
RABBI CHAIM OZER GURWICZ
Harav Chaim Ozer Gurwicz, the younger son of Reb Leib זצ”ל, was educated in Gateshead and Brisk Yerushalayim, before assuming a teaching position at the Kol Yakov Yeshiva in Bayit Vegan. He was called by the Yeshiva in the year 5748 to join the Hanholo and to head the Kibbutz of older Talmidim at the Yeshiva, who could appreciate his original and lively approach to the Gemoro study.
RABBI YOSEF AHARON OPPENHEIMER
Rav Yosef Aron Oppenheimer grew up in London, and joined Gateshead Yeshiva, where he became close to his Rebbe, Reb Leib Lopian זצ”ל. While he was learning in Gateshead Kollel he served during the night Seder as a Shoel Umeshiv in Yeshiva, where he eventually (in 5737) was appointed as a full member of staff. He is the Maggid Shiur to the Fourth Shiur, and is known to create a strong bond in learning with his Talmidim, who remain in contact with him many years after leaving the Yeshiva.
RABBI EZRIEL ROSENBAUM
Rav E Rosenbaum, fondly known as Reb Ezriel, was brought up in Hungary, from where he miraculously escaped during the revolt in 1956. After learning for a few years in Manchester Yeshiva, where he became attached to its famous Rosh Yeshiva זצ”ל, he arrived in Gateshead, where he became a close Tamid of the two “Reb Leib’s”. After marrying Miriam Salomon (sister of Rav Matisyohu שליט”א) he joined Gateshead Kollel, to return to Gateshead Yeshiva first as a Shoel Umeshiv, and eventually as a Maggid Shiur for the Third Shiur. He endears himself to his Talmidim with his warm and charismatic personality. He also has authored the Zichron Moshe series on all the Yeshiva Masechtos and on Chumash.
RABBI MORDECHAI YOSEF KARNOWSKY
The Mashgiach, Rav Mordechai Yosef Karnowsky, started his learning career in Chaye Olom, continuing at the Gateshead Yeshiva and Mir, before returning to Gateshead Kollel. He became a Maggid Shiur at the newly founded Yeshiva Lezeirim, and in 5748 was appointed as Mashgiach at the Yeshiva. His phenomenal knowledge both in Halocho and Agodo, coupled with a personal care for the Bachurim, made him respected and revered in the Torah world of the UK and beyond.
RABBI GERSHON MILLER
Rav Gershon Miller, a native of North London, spent his formative years in Gateshead Yeshiva and the Mir. After his marriage to the daughter of Rav Shmuel Goldberg of Yeshivas Shaare Torah, he spent a short time teaching in Manchester, before being called to Gateshead Yeshiva, where he fills the role as a very popular and gifted Mashgiach and Mechanech.
RABBI ELIYOHU GURWICZ
Rav Eliyohu Gurwicz, son of the Rosh HaYeshiva, was appointed as a Shoel Umeishiv and Chaver Hanholo in 5774. Harav Eliyohu learnt at Gateshead Yeshiva, Yeshivas Brisk and at Kollel Ohel Torah in Yerusholayim. R’ Eliyohu married the daughter of Rabbi Boruch Dov Povarsky, Rosh Yeshivas Ponevez. R’ Eliyohu is the third link in the Mesoras Hatorah at the Gateshead Yeshiva that commenced with his revered late grandfathers, R’ Leib Gurwicz זצ”ל and R’ Leib Lopianזצ”ל . He now also gives a daily Shiur, and his Talmidim greatly enjoy his engaging style and profound knowledge.
RABBI YAAKOV YEHUDA ROSENBAUM
R’ Yaakov Yehuda, son of Harav Ezriel Rosenbaum, joined the faculty of Gateshead yeshiva as shoel umeishiv. R’ Yaakov Yehuda learnt at Gateshead yeshiva, yeshivas brisk, and Gateshead kollel harabonim. R’ Yaakov Yehuda married the daughter of Harav Moishie Kupetz, well renowned maggid shuir in Manchester. R’ Yaakov Yehuda, with his pleasant personality has been able to encourage and guide many bachurim in preparing and understanding of the shiurim.
RABBI SHIMON NOSSON GRUN
R’ Shimon, son in law of Harav Yosef Aharon Oppenheimer and a son of R’ Moshe Grun of Hendon, was appointed as a shoel umeishiv. Harav Shimon learnt at the yeshivas of Gateshead, Passaic, Mir, Brisk and at Gateshead Kollel harabonim. R’ Shimon, brings to the beis hamidrash with his charisma and engaging personality an opportunity for the bachurim to discuss in great depth the sugyas that are being learnt.
RABBI REFOEL LIEBERMAN
Rav Refoel Lieberman learnt in Chaye Olam and Ponivez before joining Gateshead Kollel. He joined the staff of the Yeshiva as a Shoel Umeshiv in the winter of 5768. His erudition in Shas and Poskim and genuine care for the Talmidim have gained him the respect of the Bachurim.
RABBI SIMCHA FELD
R’ Simcha Feld joined the faculty at the end of Summer Zman 5776 as a Shoel Umeishiv, with a primary responsibility for Bochurim who have just joined Yeshiva. Rabbi Feld is a son of the late R’ Moshe Feld z’l of Golders Green, and son-in-law of Rabbi Shlomo Steinhaus of Gateshead. An alumnus of Gateshead Yeshiva, and later of Yeshivos Ponevez and Reb Zvi Kaplan and Gateshead Kollel, Rabbi Feld has in more recent years served as Maggid Shiur at the Mechina Leyeshiva, Gateshead, and gives a daily Shiur at Yeshiva Tiferes Yaakov. Apart from his proficiency in delivering well prepared Shiurim, R’ Simcha has also demonstrated an unusual ability to reach out and connect to young Bachurim on a personal level.
